As Texas moves into Phase 2 of reopening, we’re cautiously excited to bring you live, outdoor music every Thursday in June and July. We’ll be taking several steps to increase public safety this year and provide for social distancing, including:
• Providing 12×12 squares in front of the stage to prevent bunching – no more than one family per square.
• Spacing out port-a-potties and providing additional hand sanitizing stations.
• Spacing out food vendors
• No indoor rain plans – concerts will be held outside or cancelled in the case of inclement weather.
• Streaming all concerts on Facebook (when legally allowed).
And PLEASE, if you’re feeling under the weather, stay home. None of these great acts coming to Sherman this summer is worth endangering your friends and neighbors. TOGETHER we can make this a fantastic, safe summer of live music in North Texas!

The Texoma Earth Day Festival is a fun community-wide family event where ordinary people learn practical ways to reduce their environmental footprint and impact on our planet. Attendance is free and open to the public. The Texoma Earth Day Festival offers something for everyone! Vendors, food, children’s activities, arts and crafts, keynote address, Freecycle event, Trashion Fashion Show, Art Bicycle Event and Parade, paper shredding, electronic waste collection and recycling opportunities for individuals and businesses. The event is free to the public and includes free parking. All vendor spaces will be set up on the Sherman Municipal Lawn.

Skateboard Clinic
The new skatepark has gotten a lot of interest lately, but that also means some kids are out there skating and need help! The free skateboarding clinics are for the beginner and novice skaters that are ready to learn and get some skills. Kids will be taught by some local skateboarders that want to see the next generation of skateboarders develop. The clinics will focus on the basics of skateboarding including skatepark etiquette. Clinics are free for all. Helmet and pads are encouraged. Limited boards and pads provided by Schlaudie Skate Co. will be available for use, but it is recommended to bring your own.

On Saturday, September 21st, the City of Sherman is holding the 38th Annual Sherman Arts Fest RAIN or SHINE on the Municipal Grounds (405 N. Rusk), Ballroom, and surrounding streets! We have a fun-filled day for the whole family, featuring musical acts and other live performances on two stages throughout the day, chalk art, a huge Kids Alley, lots of food and beverage vendors, tons of arts, crafts, and marketplace vendors, woodcarving exhibit, youth and adult art shows, art history displays, Sherman Education Foundation 5k, and more!

Popsicles in the Park
Who doesn’t love popsicles? Especially on a hot day! Each month this summer, we will provide free popsicles and games at a different park. All you have to do is show up and enjoy a tasty popsicle.

The Sherman Shutterbug Club is a club for all those interested in photography. Improve your skills, learn from others, and share your ideas, concepts, and techniques. Monthly meetings will consist of critiques, hands-on workshops, and photo assignments. Upcoming assignments are:

The new skatepark has gotten a lot of interest lately, but that also means some kids are out there skating and need help! The free skateboarding clinics are for the beginner and novice skaters that are ready to learn and get some skills. Kids will be taught by some local skateboarders that want to see the next generation of skateboarders develop. The clinics will focus on the basics of skateboarding including skatepark etiquette. Clinics are free for all. Helmet and pads are encouraged. Limited boards and pads provided by Schlaudie Skate Co. will be available for use, but it is recommended to bring your own.

Father Son Camp Out
The perfect way to start Father’s Day weekend is a camp out with your boys. You bring the tent, we will provide dinner and breakfast. Camping will be at Herman Baker Park. Once everyone has their tent set up, we will begin laser tag wars. After laser tag, we will come back to the camp fire and roast hot dogs and smores. When we wake up, you will have a tasty breakfast waiting for you.

Time: Games tents up by 6:30PM
Location: Herman Baker Park
Price: $25/ pair ($5 additional for each additional child)

Grayson County 4-H “Color Me Green” 4K & 1 Mile Fun Run
The Color Me Green 4K & Fun Run is a family friendly event hosted by the Grayson County 4-H Youth Development Program. This run will benefit youth based educational efforts hosted by Grayson County 4-H. The race is designed as a 4K to promote the four pillars of 4-H, which are:
• Head to clearer thinking
• Heart to greater loyalty
• Hands for larger service
• Health for better living

Packet Pick-up
Early Packet Pick-up
Participants may pick up their packet in advance starting Thursday, June 6, 2019, at the Grayson County 4-H Office located at 100 W Houston St, Sherman, Texas. Enter the south entrance of the Grayson County Courthouse (Lamar St) and we are the first office on the right hand side in the Annex. Open normal business hours from 8 am to 5 p.m., closed during lunch noon to 1 p.m.
You will be allowed to pick up your friends and families race packets. Bib number and timing chips will be available at packet pick up.

Participants may pick up their packets at the Loy Lake Park Pavilion starting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8th.

Sherman Symphony in the Park
Come join the Sherman Symphony Orchestra for their first-ever Symphony in the Park! This free, outdoor concert will feature some of North Texas’s finest musicians for a one-of-a-kind music experience for all ages. Opening entertainment will be provided by “The Choice” winner Mary Clare, and food trucks will be on hand to complement your wonderful evening at Kidd-Key Park with the Sherman Symphony Orchestra!
Senior Appreciation Day
May is Older Americans Month nationally. To honor our area seniors we will be hosting our Annual Senior Appreciation Day at the Senior Center on Saturday, may 18, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The afternoon will feature games, refreshments and door prizes for seniors. all seniors age 50+ are invited, regardless of whether you have been to our center before, so tell all your friends and neighbors to come join the fun!Older
