If you’re making a list of the iconic rock bands of the last half-century, one group leaves others like “Dust in the Wind.” Don’t miss KANSAS at WinStar’s Global Event Center on Saturday, August 31 at 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 5:30 PM.
This “little garage band” from Topeka released their first album 45 years ago, which went on to sell more than 30 million copies. Since then, their 14 studio and five live discs that followed have produced eight gold albums, a platinum live album and three sextuple-platinum albums: Leftoverture, Point of Know Return and Best of KANSAS. They also generated a couple of million-selling gold singles: “Carry On Wayward Son” (still one of the top five songs on classic rock radio) and “Dust in the Wind,” a song that has been played on the radio more than three million times.
Today, the band has reached a new generation of fans through their unmistakable presence on the popular video games “Rock Band” and “Guitar Hero,” plus hit songs popping up on television shows like “Supernatural” and “South Park,” as well as films such as “Old School” and “Anchorman.”
Joining KANSAS are the “Wild-Eyed Southern Boys” of 38 Special, for a night of double-big hits and a big-time evening to remember.
